GTA Online has long felt like a sideline from the main single-player campaign of GTA 5. The bulk of the players spend hours in the multiplayer mode, in this regard, sooner or later the question of dividing the plot of the game and the online should have ripened.
On March 4, Game Rant posted comments from Take-Two's management regarding GTA Online as a standalone game. According to the publisher, the detachment of the online game will have a positive effect on attracting a new audience, by reducing the price of a project with an absent storyline company.
This is not the first time a publisher has done this. A similar move was made with Red Dead Redemption Online - a cooperative element of RDR 2. At the moment, the release date of a separate version of GTA Online has not been announced.
