Dilettante is a hybrid compact automobile with the "hatchback" body style, manufactured by specialists of a fictional, non-existing in the real world, in-game Japanese automobile company Karin, which parodies the real Japanese company Toyota.
For the first time Rockstar introduced the compact car Karin Dilettante into the universe of Grand Theft Auto in the fourth part of the series. Obviously, Dilettante didn't avoid the fifth part - when going over from GTA 4 to GTA 5 design of the automobile suffered absolutely no changes. Visually-wise, Dilettante sticks to one's memory thanks to it's large windscreen, which has the same angle with the hood and the cowling, which adds to the car some kind of a "streamlinety". Just like most modern cars, Dilettante tries hard to look elegant and to avoid straight lines in it's design.
Due to unknown reasons, Karin Dilettante is used by Merryweather Security as a patrol vehicle. Their variant of the Dilettante is not different from original variant, but it has a different paint scheme.
Karin Dilettante is a stereotypical "green" car for those, who like to pretend that they do care about environment, which doesn't play well on the side of the Dilettante's technical characteristics. Karin Dilettante has one of the smallest top speeds among cars in the game and the slowest among compacts. The automobile has a hybrid engine - when driving at low speeds, only an electric part of the engine is working, but at higher speeds an internal combustion engine comes into the play. Albeit the car has two sources of horse powers, it has astonishingly awful acceleration - much worse than other compact cars. Manouevrability and handling are not strong sides of the car either. You can buy Dilettante on the in-game website www.southernsanandreassuperautos.com for $25000.
The prototype of Karin Dilettante in the real world is Toyota Prirus.
