As there wasn't an ability for a player to go to the bottom of the ocean, just like you couldn't go below for a at least a centimetre below the water surface, there weren't submarines as well, so Kraken didn't make it's appearance in any previous part of the series, well, he didn't even make an appearance in all versions of GTA 5 - he can be seen only at next-gen consoles and PC. Just like the other submarine in GTA 5, Kraken is almost completely yellow, and only some of it's separate components are painted in black. At the centre there is a bubble-and-canopy-like glass, through which the driver may look. On both sides of the body there is a two engine units, providing a thrust for the vehicle.
Kraken is the fastest and the most manoeuvrable submarine (eh, among two) in GTA 5, thanks to it's two powerful engine, however, just like Submersible, Kraken shouldn't go below 150 metres, and as you reach 170 metres the submarine is very likely to implode, instantly killing it's occupant. Kraken can be got absolutely for free via completing "Wildlife Photography Challenge" - then you can find it anchored at piers of San Chianski Mountain Range. Also, you can buy it for a fortune of $1325000 on the www.docktease.com website.
When creating Kraken, Rockstar were influenced by the Triton line of miniature submersibles.
