Helicopters have one big advantage other their winged brothers - it is an ability to get to places, to which won't (well, at least alive) plane, an ability to transport people and to, in most cases, the places, where an auto can pass. Not taking in account the fragility of helicopters (just like of any other aircraft) and the danger of dying due to not carefully driving it, a helicopter is the perfect vehicle to travel through Los Santos. Granted it is far behind in terms of a speed from a plane, but it can land almost anywhere in the city, be it a regular road (just make sure there aren't any cars driving there at the moment), roof of building, school playground or a lawn. Except for civil helicopters, there is also armed models in the game, which are perfectly suited for destroying armed groups of enemy.
